Brixham Fire Station progress going well…

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are delighted to confirm that the main construction work for the new Brixham Fire Station is now underway.

Sean Burnell, Station Commander said:

“It is great to see the building of the new Brixham Fire Station is well underway. Since last August the crew have been re-located to the other side of town, so they are very excited to be moving back to a new, purpose-built, modern facility in the near future.

“We look forward with great pleasure to continuing to serve our local community from the heart of Brixham, back to our original site.”

Paul Lees, Property Manager for the fire service said:

“Although the current challenges have slowed down progress on-site, I am very happy with the advancement now being made since the re-start of the project on the 20 April.

“The Kier construction team are now back up to full speed. The past few weeks have been the formation of the new access road, drainage installation and foundations being constructed. The project is moving forward well, with supply of materials and workforce availability improving as companies find smarter and safer ways of working whilst aligning to PHE and Government Covid-19 guidance.

“Over the next couple of you will see the completion of the ground floor slab and the start of the steel frame erection closely followed by the first floor slab construction.”
