Lanhydrock Golf Club,
ADG have completed 3 projects for Lanhydrock Hotel & Golf Club, based near Bodmin in Cornwall and have carried out numerous other feasibility studies.
Initially we were commissioned to design and project manage the refurbishment and extension of the golf club to create a new 48 bedroom hotel with a new reception, restaurant and bar areas. The design combines an exposed timber structure and contemporary fit-out to create a light, welcoming and modern ambience on arrival.
Phase 2 of the project included the addition of a further extension to the hotel’s already comprehensive accommodation. This project provided a new gymnasium and refurbished offices as well as a large honeymoon suite.
Phase 3 involved the development of new changing rooms and an enlarged kitchen facility. We have also produced options and plans to enlarge the conference/banqueting suite and to create an extension to the restaurant that will take advantage of the magnificent views over the golf course and surrounding countryside.
The selected design utilised a striking parabolic roof in order to co-ordinate into the existing fabric, whilst making the most of the stunning views and creating an impressive internal space.
Following completion of the hotel extension, we were then commissioned to act as lead consultants and architects, to both design and deliver a new fitness centre. We carried out intensive feasibility studies, in which a variety of options were explored. The selected solution was to develop a completely independent building, with its own changing facilities, but linked directly to the new main reception area.
Amidst working on the active projects above, we were also commissioned to explore other potential site development options such as holiday accommodation. One particular option was to create a fringe development of sensitive, highly sustainable holiday homes with shared and private outside spaces. The scheme would provide ideal accommodation for larger groups wanting to stay and use the hotels facilities, or simply as a well located base to explore the whole region. The design that was adopted was shaped by a focus on outdoor living and low energy.
ADG were further appointed by the client to design and submit a full planning application for the provision of 20 new two bed holiday units.
Proposals also include the rationalisation of the golfing facilities near Holes 1 and 10. This involves improving the toilet and vending facilities by providing a purpose made building.
In addition, a new overnight staff and coach drivers building, a laundry building, improved service yard facilities, and an extension to the existing bistro are also proposed.
This stage of the expansion started from project inception, assessing site capacity and project feasibility, resulting in the submission of a full planning application. We have worked very closely and collaboratively with our clients, Graham and Clare Bond, and the wider design team, resulting in a positive outcome for this project stage.
