The inclusion of water provides sound and movement, and water is also directly associated with meditation. Water would be collected and supplied via rainwater collection and irrigated using a solar power pump system.
The space would be set lower into the landscape, with the land falling from West to East. Combined with banking around the perimeter of the site, this would to create a sense of calm and separation from surroundings.
The focal contemplation space would be built out of locally referenced materials. Crushed local stone will also be utilised as loose gravel surrounding paths that weave through the site, with the paving itself formed of high-quality precast concrete or stone.
Low maintenance planting would surround the perimeter, with low lying, drought tolerant planting interspersed through the site, a feature tree could also be considered.
