Unanimous Approval for Torre Marine Extra Care Housing
Torbay Development Agency and ADG are very pleased to announce that the Torre Marine Extra Care facility project, destined for Torquay, has just taken an important step forward.
The plans for the Torre Marine Extra Care residential scheme gained unanimous approval at the November Planning Committee following pre-application planning consultation with Torbay Council.
The project commenced roughly a year ago with a vacant site in Torre, and a brief to develop proposals for extra care housing and shared amenity. The process has involved careful consideration of how a variety of end-users will be able to use the building, with special attention being paid to creating legible and friendly spaces. The building will provide opportunities for informal and formal social interaction and a non-institutional feel to the building and spaces.
The proposals will provide a mix of 72, one and two bed, 100% affordable, apartments for a variety of potential end users, including older and more vulnerable residents who may have conditions such as dementia. As such the design process has had to include rigorous evaluation against relevant design criteria.
The design team has included structureHaus Structural Engineers, Hydrock (Fire Consultancy), Hulley & Kirkwood (M&E Engineers), Taylor Lewis Project Managers, and ADG Architects.
The next steps have commenced and involve the detailed design of the building to provide a much-needed, high quality asset for the Torre community for many years to come.
