Plessey Semiconductors is a well-established, Plymouth-based high-technology company at the forefront of microLED display technology.
Plessey is working with world leaders in consumer technology to develop the next computing platform for Augmented Reality applications based on advanced microLED display solutions.
ADG have worked with Plessey for more than 10 years, assisting with the delivery of planning approvals and designs for expansion, integration of new plant, and future strategic development opportunities.
Most recently, ADG were involved with the first phase of recladding to their huge main facility building on Tamerton Road in Roborough. The design and delivery had to work with the retained steelwork, site features and services, and included a review of glazed and louvred areas within the south and west facades.
Overheating calculations, carried out by Hoare Lea, were used to assess the need for solar control, and as a result, shading louvres were designed and installed on the south elevation above the main entrance. Special care had to be taken to ensure that the fire strategy, compartmentation, and protection to structural elements was not adversely affected.
Carried out concurrently with the recladding, Obedair as Principal Contractor, also delivered the refurbishment of the reception space based upon designs developed by ADG. This had to be delivered to a fixed budget and to a tight timeframe. The combined results of these projects makes an impressive first impression on Plessey’s visitors.
