ADG has been a part of the community of Plymouth and the Southwest for nearly 40 years, creating jobs for local people, buying local specialist skills and services, providing career paths for young professionals, and supporting local and charitable organisations.
Our ethos is based upon making a fair profit whilst supporting social reinvestment, which we aim to achieve through our practice procedures and the projects we are involved in. We are a proud supporter of Plymouth Resurgam.
In order to build and maintain our skilled team we actively encourage our employees to be autonomous and accountable which in turn imparts personal ownership and pride. We support rather than control, allowing everyone to find their own answers to their questions.
We support the ethos of spending locally. 87% of our staff live in Plymouth and its bordering neighbourhoods and villages.
As a business we drive direct local reinvestment through the employment of local expertise and the purchase of support services. Printing, IT support, legal support, banking, cleaning, and accounting are all provided from within the Plymouth area.
The various specialist consultants with whom we work are chosen from a list of trusted Southwest based companies, providing services such as surveying, acoustic consultancy, fire consultancy, interior design and ecology, to name a few.

Investing in People
We have a history of supporting, mentoring and employing young professionals in their ongoing studies from local education establishments. Each year we provide work experience placements for local year 10 to 12 students, providing direct mentoring and training via real-world design scenarios.
We are an active advocate of ongoing training. We help our staff to grow with training time allocation, and where possible, appropriate financial support. In turn, our staff have assisted Plymouth University with seminar presentations, marking moderation and student mentoring schemes. Our aim is to build stronger links with the local education establishments to support future regional design and construction skills.

Supporting the Community
As an SME we have discovered that the best way we can support charitable and local organisations is by giving our time and specialist expertise, providing project input, mentoring or support for free, or at greatly discounted cost.
Our staff are encouraged to consider and be involved with the local community and identify organisations and activities that they wish to support. We regularly help at a local soup run for Shekinah. Others are actively involved in supporting local churches, the Pregnancy Crisis Charity, and Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity, in a variety of ways.
