Ian Potts, Director
With a career spanning 30-years, Ian is the founder member of the Architects Design Group. Ian is an award-winning architect of several prominent buildings in and around Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.
Ian specialises in team leadership and client liaison, enjoying many long-term relationships within the property industry. He has an excellent track record in securing difficult planning permissions often for complex, sensitive and constrained sites.
Ianís particular focus is on the development of architecture and urban design and its role in the regeneration of Plymouth and the towns and cities of Devon and Cornwall. He is currently working with Plymouthís private and public sector leadership to achieve the wider scale regeneration of the Cityís built environment.
Ian spent 12 years as a director of Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and retired last year. Ian continues on the Plymouth Area Business Council holding the portfolio for the Built Environment. These positions have provided the opportunity to work with the leadership of the private sector in partnership with the public and community sector leaders for the good of the City of Plymouth.
Marc Nash, Director
A founding member of the practice Marc joined in 1985.
Marc operates at a project management level but maintains a close involvement with the design process and development in all projects undertaken by his team.
He has a detailed knowledge of project management, brief development and partnership working and operates a flexible and inclusive team orientated approach.
Marc enjoys the process of creating innovative design solutions and solving the multitude of problems raised by every new project. With experience from small extensions to £30 million mixed use developments he is able to adapt his skills to suit.
Marc leads the Education team at ADG but also has extensive experience in residential, mixed use, commercial and industrial projects.
Marc works closely with many clients and external consultants and has developed close links with statutory and government agencies for effective collaborative relationships.
He is also actively involved with a number of charitable agencies and is passionate in supporting the sustainable regeneration of Plymouth. He is currently the professional representative on the Plymouth Waterfront Advisory panel.
Phil Burgess, Director
Phil started his professional architectural career working on a combination of commercial, industrial and historical building projects.
This ability to grasp the differing requirements of each sector was quickly recognised and his career progressed swiftly towards a management role and involvement with major projects and strategic studies.
Phil joined ADG as a partner in 1989 and successfully expanded the practice into new areas including healthcare design and conservation work.
He leads the healthcare and heritage teams in ADG and his major clients include Nuffield Health, various NHS Trusts throughout the South West, Land Securities, Hermes Investment Trust, Petros Ltd.
A particular interest of Phil's is the restoration and re-use of historical buildings to ensure the prolonged life of the architectural heritage.
