ADG celebrates 30 years of Architecture...

"It doesn’t seem any time at all since the three of us started our careers in architecture and founded ADG in 1985.

Like any business we have experienced ups and downs, but the rewarding times far outweigh these! We are lucky enough to work in a business where we can have a massive impact on the built environment - and what could be more rewarding than seeing our hard work come to fruition and be enjoyed by so many people.

So, on the occasion of ADG's 30th Birthday year, and on behalf of myself, Marc & Phil we would like to say thank you to all our clients, suppliers and colleagues for your support and we look forward to many more years to come."

Ian Potts, Director.

Mount Wise Phase 2 nearing completion...

The next phase at Mount Wise is now nearing completion. The 2, 3, 4 bed houses and 2 and 3 bed apartments are the second phase in a 5 phase project with additonal phases now in progress. This phase is due for completion in August ready for its first occupants.

ADG have been working closely with the client, Plymouth City Council’s historic buildings officer and archaeologists on the second phase of work at Admiralty House. Archaeologists undertook a predetermination assessment of the standing Pavilion buildings on the site of Admiralty House; the former 17th Century governor’s residence to the naval base.

The final master plan design for Mount Wise combines 450 dwellings with a hotel, offices, cafe, retail units and data storage in an underground bunker.

“The Mount Wise project won plaudits from the judging panel, transforming historic naval buildings in the city’s Devonport area. Additional housing has also been sympathetically designed to blend harmoniously with the old. There is a fantastic atmosphere and the sense of space – It has been very well received locally.” Michelmores/Western Morning News Property Awards.

“Next Era Project” at St Judes Church is given the green light...

ADG have been working with the congregation of St. Jude’s church for many years, developing designs for a “Next Era Project” as well as helping with the refurbishment and remodelling of their buildings. St. Jude’s is an active and growing church community which seeks to serve the surrounding area in many ways, from providing an OFSED registered nursery, through to school and youth outreach programmes, as well as services and groups for adults and the elderly.

The Next Era Project seeks to transform the church’s existing late victorian listed buildings create facilities appropriate for the 21st Century. This will involve reorienting and replanting the main church building to provide a new welcome space, Sunday school room, café and worship space as well as supporting accommodation including a new catering kitchen and suite of WC’s.

ADG were recently delighted to receive the good news that a Faculty has been granted by the Church of England for our proposed major reordering scheme. This is similar to achieving a Listed Building consent, but more detailed due to the property having ecclesiastical exemption under planning law. Having completed the enabling works for the church under a separate faculty permission, this new consent paves the way for the main project to continue.

ADG Golf Triumph...

The ADG team of Marc Nash, Lionel Peterson and Nick Tedesco triumphed at the 2015 Building Forum Golf day held at Lanhydrock golf club on the 11th June. Playing in a Texas Scramble format the ADG team produced a bogey free card with 8 birdies and an eagle for a net score that was 10 shots under par.

ADG Director Marc Nash said “ We had an incredible day where we sunk a lot of very long putts that on another day would not have gone in. We all played well and are pleased to get our name back on the trophy that we last won back in 2004"

Anne takes on 3 Peaks Challenge...

Our PA, Anne Marshall recently competed in the 24hr 3 Peak Challenge. The challenge started in Fort William for Ben Nevis, then went on to Scarfell Pike and finally finished at the top of Snowdon. The team completed it in the time of 22hrs 31 minutes!

“I am used to competing in marathons, but this was totally different – 11hrs 31 mins climbing time and 11 hrs driving time with virtually no sleep! The weather conditions on Ben Nevis (packed ice and snow at the top) and Scarfell (extremely wet and very windy) were particularly challenging too. I am very proud to have done it sub 24 hours”.
