Master Plan Design at old MOD site...

ADG and the Penhale design team recently carried out a consultation exercise over 2 days. The second of three such exercises included a public exhibition where the latest master plan was displayed, and stakeholder consultations and site tours. The process generated a lot of invaluable feedback and is informing the detailed design process moving forward. The team are planning on carrying out the third and final consultation in June when detailed proposals will be on show. Adjective were commissioned to produce graphical material and create the Penhale website.

The project proposals currently include up to 150 new homes, community buildings and other uses set within highly sensitive, SSSI surrounded landscape. The site was formerly operated as a military training camp since the 1950’s until 6 years ago when Camparo purchased it from the MOD. The design approach, from first principles, has been developed to maximise the benefit to the surrounding ecology and landscape character.

ADG to design new STEM building for City College...

ADG are delighted to announce that they have recently won a commission to design a major new state of the art Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teaching facility at City College in Plymouth.

The Centre will help to drive the City’s productivity and economy by stimulating interest in STEM subjects amongst potential students, young and old, those who are just entering the labour market and those wanting to upskill or retrain. It will also provide support for higher-paid STEM jobs in the area, thus retaining and maximising Plymouth’s talented workforce and helping to ensure that Britain’s Ocean City is recognised as a world leader in STEM development.

ADG Housing Round Up...

ADG’s housing team is currently working on a number of significant projects, which are at various stages of the design and construction process.

Construction work is nearing completion on a mixed tenure housing scheme at Plymview. The show home is also open and available to view.

Forty-seven unit scheme, consisting of two and three bedroom houses, on the former South Trelawny school site in Plymouth is also nearing completion. The project incorporates feature colour panels for the dormer and bay windows, which will be a striking new addition to the area.

ADG has worked closely with Spectrum Housing and contractor Kier Living to develop a scheme for 137 units on the former Chaucer Way school site in Plymouth. Following detailed consultation with Plymouth City Council the project has now been submitted for planning approval.

ADG is also at the early stages of developing a scheme of approximately 100 units for another key regeneration site in Southway Plymouth.

In Cornwall we have recently completed the detail design stage for a 49 unit scheme in North Country, Redruth. The ground works are about to start with completion scheduled for early 2016.

Devonport Health Centre nearing completion...

Devonport Health Centre is currently on site and nearing completion. The building provides a new Primary Care facility prominently located between the existing Cumberland Centre and Peninsula Dental School. The existing and outdated Marlborough Street GP Surgery will soon relocate to the new building, which will also include a new self-contained pharmacy. The surgery accommodation includes 8 consulting rooms, supported by nurse and Health Care assistant rooms and treatment rooms.

ADG has worked closely with the end users throughout the design and construction stages to ensure that their imminent move is as seamless as possible. Final decisions have been made relating to the proposed interior colours and finishes, which will provide a bright and welcoming facility for the practices existing and future patients.

The new building will greatly improve access to GP and health services and also provides an opportunity for the practice to deliver expanded and enhanced services and treatments. It will become an important element within the continuing regeneration of this area of the city.
