A landmark tower sits at the focal point of the new public space with a design emphasis on urban activity and high quality architecture. The aim of the project is to create a destination for both the visitor and the people of Plymouth, a place for gathering and meeting. The site forms a pivotal link in the urban renaissance of Plymouth. Development of the project required the development of a complex masterplan for not only the 1.2ha site but required extended Urban Design Appraisals and Detailed Feasibility Studies. The creation of a public space was central to the scheme and supported the creation of a high quality hotel as well as retail and commercial spaces including proposed bars and restaurants.
Planning Permission was achieved in January 2008. A new proposal has been developed with the Client and Project Team resulting in a new approval in March 2010 which is believed will progress the development of the project on site with a development that will rise above the recent economic difficulties. ADG acted as Architects, Planning Consultants and through ADG Integra, Facade Consultants.
